Trellix Stinger (formerly McAfee Stinger) is a standalone utility designed to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a substitute for full antivirus protection but a specialized tool to assist administrators and users in dealing with infected systems.
Trellix Stinger now includes Real Protect, a real-time behavior detection technology that monitors suspicious activity on endpoints.
Real Protect leverages machine learning and automated behavioral-based classification in the cloud to detect zero-day malware in real time.
This Trellix tool utilizes next-generation scan engine technology. This includes process scanning, digitally signed .DAT files, and optimized scan performance. It detects and removes threats identified under the ‘List Viruses’ icon in the application.
New or enhanced signatures are added with each Trellix Stinger build, and you can find more information in the README details.
Enhanced detections are updates specifically designed for this release. These improvements address new variants, increase performance, and rectify incorrect identifications.
